SUMMARY:Norway Visit - Erasmus+ Exchange
DESCRIPTION:Our visit to Tynset\, Norway is fast approaching! \nAs well as our usual curriculum of theatre performance and skill building\, EYT also offers International Exchange Programs with other youth theatre groups during the holidays. In 2023\, we welcomed a group from Tynset\, Norway\, to Brussels\, and led a one-week theatre workshop building skills in improvisational theatre and character-building\, as well as learning about each other’s cultures through exploring Belgium\, playing games and hosting activities together.In July 2024\, along with Teater i Fjellregionen\, we will be making the return trip to Tynset. The play begins with the Director on the telephone complaining  about the  auditions and  the actresses of that day . Suddenly\, at the last minute\, a new actress\, Vanda  bursts in. At first it’s hard to imagine how she can interest  the director: She’s bad mannered  and low classed . But she convinces the directore  to let her audition  and the director will read in the other male character . Much happens during this dynamic reading\, as lightning flashes and thunder crashes outside. The actress  shows astonishing insights into the story and her character\, and  performs a terrific audition. The subject of the play is sexual domination and submission. As the audition continues Vanda attacks the script as sexist\,  pornography. Thomas at first defends it as a faithful adaptation of a literary classic about passion and desire. Vanda accuses Thomas of having his own masochistic fantasies\, which he denies. However\, as the story  develops\, he increasingly identifies with the masochistic male lead in the play. SUMMARY:Coming on May 25th: exchange with EYT Brussels William Golding\, 'Lord of the Flies' in the Badhuistheater.
DESCRIPTION:Lord of the Flies\, by William Golding \n\nAdapated for the stage by Nigel Williams \nDirected by Glenn Vaughan \nA plane carrying a group of school children crash lands on a deserted island. With no adult survivors\, the kids are forced to fend for themselves. At first they cooperate\, but when they split into two separate camps\, their society falls into disarray\, leading to a disturbing examination of human nature and a chilling conclusion. \nThe cast ( 17 till 22 years)  of 14 was selected from 37 auditionees\, and specifically chosen for their work ethic\, commitment\, ability to work in a team and acting ability. Some of the actors are EYT veterans who’ve gathered lots of experience\, and others are in their first year at EYT but have shown great promise and performance skills!

DESCRIPTION:On May the 5th\, it is Liberation Day in the Netherlands\,  BadhuisInternational performed their open air show ‘More War’. An Absurd Satire with Music and dance .Combining  theater with a space for a discussion about freedom & democracy on this special  liberation day for the Dutch \,after the years of  fascist occupation 80 years ago. \n‘More War’ will be performed on the theater terrace of the Badhuistheater. Cafe owner Rene from the series ‘Allo Allo’ finds himself in 2024. The second world war has just finished\, but the third world war is on the brink of starting.. This cross-over show between the bizarre world of the famous series mixes the bizarre world we are currently living in. A satirical musical comedy. During the show there will also be musical performances.\nBadhuistheater holds  weekly workshops with new young Teachers

SUMMARY:EYT Festival 2024
DESCRIPTION:On the 3rd and 4th of February 2024\, our 90+ Senior students from Brussels\, Antwerp and Waterloo each performed an individual one-act show as part of the EYT Festival! We had an audience of over 250 each night\, and 8 plays were performed by our talented group of Senior students! Our judges then gave detailed feedback to each group on the things they did well and the things they could improve.At the end of the week-end\, awards were handed out for Best Performance\, Best Supporting Performance\, and the 1st\, 2nd and 3rd Best Plays. When the winner was announced\, the house erupted! We’re already looking forward to the 2025 edition!
